    Is it not in Hastings, East Sussex in the United Kingdom?

    The company called Rediffusion in collaboration with BICC installed a 2 Fiber duct cable inside the ducts in the town. That cable was supplied in two drums. The total length was 1427 meters. Rediffusion used this first optical fiber cable to deliver cable television programs to its subscribers who paid for the program. Hence, the company claims to be the first one to use optical fiber cables for Wide area network transmission.
