Telecom Italia’s global operations wing, SPARKLE had expanded its fiber optic networks in Bogota, Colombia. The new PoP provides high-speed internet connectivity and confirms Sparkle as one of the main providers in the Americas and first global Tier-1 backbone in Latam.
Sparkle is the first international service provider in Italy and is one of the top ten global operators. Sparkle has operations in Latin American countries and the expansion of its reach in Colombia with the opening of a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Bogota as part of its strategy to support its customers in Colombia.
Located at Equinix Data Center, the new PoP in Bogota adds to the existing one in Cartagena, strengthening the performance of Sparkle’s global Tier-1 IP transit service Seabone and providing high-speed Internet connectivity to the local market as well as to international OTT’s, ISPs, Content, and Application Providers.
DDoS Attack service – which grants Seabone customers the option to protect their network – and Virtual NAP solution – which allows customers to access the main Internet Exchange Points without the need of building any proprietary infrastructure – complete Sparkle’s portfolio of services offered via the Bogotá PoP.
It was in January this year the Sparkle and partners completed building a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Cartagena. The PoP in Cartagena provides local and international network providers, ISPs, Content Players and OTTs with transport solutions up to 100 GB through Sparkle’s City2City service.
Sparkle’s interconnection of local networks with the two major submarine fiber-optic cables such as Pacific Caribbean Cable System (PCCS) and South Americal Cable system (SAm-1) in Cartagena ensures its customers with advanced connectivity solutions from Colombia and other Latin American countries up to the United States.
Now Sparkle has one more PoP in Colombia, that is in Bogota. The new PoPs in Cartagena and Bogotá confirm Sparkle’s positioning as one of the main providers in the Americas and as first global Tier-1 backbone in Latam.
