Polish media reports that the wholesale fiber-optic network operator, Nexera had floated equity to mobilize funds for its planned network developments in the country. Nexera aims to cover 450,000 homes with the fiber optic cable networks in order to make itself ready to serve potential subscribers with high-speed broadband services.
Nexera targets to raise an equity share capital of around PLN 100 million. This will place Nexera to the top ten Polish telecom operators in terms of capital, that would further enhance the confidence of its investors.
Nexera network is being built in 13 areas located in 4 regions. Eventually, over 450,000 households and more than 2,600 schools (educational units) will be within the Nexera’s coverage. The construction is carried out in stages. Nexera told that the dates of launching the network at specific addresses will be published in advance in their website.
Nexera network covers,280,000 households and more than 2,600 schools to which they provide access to under the Operational Program Digital Poland (Program Operacyjny Polska Cyfrowa).
Nexera was established in June 2017, as an Infracapital/Nokia vehicle, and has won several tenders under the Operational Programme Digital Poland (POPC) subsidizing broadband infrastructure projects. 2018 was a year of high investments for Nexera when it was building fiber networks simultaneously in 14 POPC areas where it won infrastructure tenders in 2017 and 2018.
The last year November has been an intensive period for NEXERA. The company has already realized over 100 orders from the Education Network Operator (OSE) for providing data transfer services to locations with over 150 schools in the Świętokrzyskie, Łódzkie, and Warmińsko-Mazurskie regions. Consequently, OSE can now carry out its statutory duties and connect ultra-fast internet to educational institutions using the NEXERA network. OSE has ordered data transfer with symmetrical bandwidth of at least 100 Mb/s to schools which are covered with an agreement signed as a result of a tender carried out in H1 2018.
All the services commissioned by OSE have launched ahead of schedule, including more than 40 orders, even approx. 3 months earlier. Subsequent orders will be run in large part also significantly earlier than the deadline required formally.
