C Spire Starts 1 Gbps offer to Businesses in Tupelo

Ridgeland based C Spire (Cellular South Inc) is all set to launch Fiber to the business entities in Tupelo city. As per the plans, C Spire will deploy high-speed broadband services through optical fibers. The Daily Journal reported that C Spire began rolling out its Fiber to the Home program in 2014. C Spire delivers internet speeds of up 1 Gbps – 100 times faster than typical home internet connections.

Tupelo is a city in northeast Mississippi known as the birthplace of Elvis Presley, who is commemorated with numerous statues. As per the census information, there are around 39,000 people, above 13,600 households, and over 8,965 families residing in the city.

While announcing the C Spire’s broadband service to the businesses in Tupelo, Mayor Jason Shelton told he had a vision for some time to see the Tupelo city become the first in Mississippi to make gigabit speed internet access available to more than 4,400 businesses and nearly 39,000 residents. said, Mayor Jason Shelton.

Said Allen McIntosh, Vice president of C Spire Business Solutions Mr. Allen McIntosh said that C Spire currently offers 1 gigabit to the home. Riding that wave, the company had a press conference in their office in Ridgeland in mid-September, where they talked about the C Spire Tech Movement, which is helping to revolutionize technology in Mississippi.

C Spire thinks it is quite natural for it offers 1 Gigabit per second to the business customers in the city where they currently offer the same speed to its residential customers. C Spire has more than 8,000 miles of optical fiber laid on the ground ready to serve customers.

Businesses already have 100 Mbps internet service and other networking products, but C Spire wanted to offer businesses, even more, company officials told. Prices start as low as $200 a month with the new fiber to a business plan being introduced.

C Spire will offer details and sign up customers in Tupelo on Monday, where a launch party will be held at the BancorpSouth Center. Two information sessions will be held: the first is from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by another from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

C Spire officers informed that the city has been divided into six business fiber hoods – designated areas that are within several hundred feet of the company’s extensive infrastructure of buried fiber optic cable. Even the 3,300 businesses that are outside of the primary sphere of influence can receive the service if there is enough interest.

The company will have contracts available, with plans to begin service before the end of the year if enough customers sign up. Also later this fall, C Spire will be offering fixed wireless – also known as wireless shots – to business customers, a 100 Mbps connectivity to places where it’s not feasible to bring fiber.
