Albia based custom cable assembly manufacturer, Zero Connect announces its plan to start operations in Pickens County, South Carolina. The officials from Zero Connect announced recently that the company will invest around US$1.3 million to start the manufacturing facility that will create 72 new jobs.
Explaining his company’s expansion plans, the president Larry Kendall said: “Our expansion to Pickens County in South Carolina will allow Zero Connect to be within a one-day ground shipment of the majority of our customers. Our rapidly increasing fiber optic cable assembly business dictated that we find an area with a dedicated and skilled workforce. We feel our new Easley facility will allow us to maintain our leadership in the copper and fiber optic cable assembly and data center businesses.”
The new jobs will be for custom cable assembly units. Zero Connect produces and distributes off-the-shelf fiber and copper products used in the voice, data, and video fields. The Pickens County plant will be housed in a renovated section of an existing facility at 182 Kayaker Way, Easley. When construction is complete, the plant will have 18,000 square feet of production space.

Willis said. “With a great location, dedicated workforce, and wonderful natural resources, we in Pickens County know what Zero Connect will learn — this is a great place to do business and live.”
Zero Connect Website says the company’s story starts on a kitchen table back in 1992 when Larry Kendall and his family were customs pinning some adapters needed for a cabling job being done by their installation company (Midwest Computer Cable). Without a reliable source to secure the needed product, and a Christmas Eve spent finishing the job, Kendall founded Quiktron in Albia, Iowa to deliver the high-quality assemblies he was struggling to buy. Though the initial manufacturing setup was bought by a foreign company, the original owners of Quiktron invested in a state of the art production facility, purchased new equipment, and provided jobs for many of those workers at Zero Connect.
Pickens County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina with an estimated population of 119,224. The county was created in 1826 and is now part of the Greenville-Anderson-Mauldin, SC Metropolitan Statistical Area.
