Orange Espana is looking for funds to support its fiber to the home deployments in Spain. The telecom operator had submitted the application to European Investment Bank, shortly known as EIB for a loan of up to 400 million Euro.
Orange wants to develop its Fiber to the home and 4G networks throughout Spain. There are more than 2.3 million 4G subscribers to Orange in Spain. Orange had made plans to increase its 4G subscribers by the end of this year. The operator intends to reach 85 percent of Spanish customers with its 4G services.
Orange has decided to reach to localities where there are more than 10,000 inhabitants, and also plans to offer fiber to the home-based high-speed broadband services to businesses and residents in Spain. They are also planning to expand their optical fiber-based network to 4 million households.
The operator had applied for the loan from EIB loan and if granted, will be utilized to the rollout of mobile and fixed Next Generation Access Networks, including related investments in the backbone network and IT systems. The total cost of the company’s investment plan in the expansion of its services comes around 1.4 billion Euros.
