Optical components and subsystems manufacturer, Finisar has introduced a new equipment for analyzing optcial spectrum. The portable equipment named, WaveAnalyzer™ 200A is a compact unit powered by batteries with touch screen.
WaveAnalyzer 200A is designed for spectral measurements in advanced optical communication systems in the R&D laboratory as well as installation, maintenance and troubleshooting applications in networks and data centers. This device represents the latest advancements in test and measurement technology offered by Finisar.
WaveAnalyzer 200A is based on heterodyne measurement technology and provides a scan time of less than a second across the entire C-band of optical communications with a resolution bandwidth of 1.8 GHz.
The equipment is operated using a GUI (Graphical User Interface) on a large touch screen and provides functions like Optical Signal to Noise Ratio (OSNR) measurement and WDM analysis.
The WaveAnalyzer 200A can be remotely accessed and controlled through an Ethernet interface with full programming for integration into automated test systems. Finisar in a press release informed that it offers very attractive pricing for its new devic and is ready to deliver the device immediately.
The WaveAnalyzer 200A is a lightweight portable Optical Spectrum Analyzer covering the C-band of optical communications. It has been designed for flexible use in the laboratory and also during installation, turn up and trouble shooting of optical networks in telecom and datacenter applications. Automatic ranging allows signals from +20 dBm to -50 dBm to be characterized without adjusting settings or adding attenuators.
The WaveAnalyzer 200A is based on a coherent measurement priciple which allows operation without any moving part inside the instrument. In-built Signal Analysis The WaveAnalyzer 200A provides full channel analysis of 50- and 100 GHz channels, as well as supporting proposed non-standard channel spacings such as 37.5 GHz for future highcapacity 400 Gbit/sec interconnects.

The WA 200A integrates with Finisar’s well-known WaveAnalyzer PC software.
The WA 200A can be connected through an Ethernet port to LANs and allows signal monitoring and data gathering or simply remotely controlling via a RESTful API. The USB port allows timestamped data to be saved for later analysis when no network is available.
