BSA is currently searching for a full time, FTTx & HFC Designer. The Network Designer will be part of BSA | Connect responsible for successful delivery of design solution across the Fixed Line Broadband Project.
The scope of responsibilities will be to review the design process from receipt of design packs, review, validate and reject or accept designs for the construction of a multi technology network for the nbn. Moves, Adds and Changes (MAC’s) across the FTTN, FTTB, FTTP, and HFC networks covering from small network extensions through to capacity improvements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Full ownership of any design component for the lifecycle of the project.
Manage design review requests from client within specified KPI’d timeframes.
Review & sign off on designs and as builts.
Work with other departments for outcomes beneficial to the business.
Comply with statutory regulations across the Telecommunications sector.
Comply with safety in design rules.
Conduct of Technical Reviews of completed design work to ensure accuracy and quality.
If requested provide a detailed scope & design for the client.
Communicate with contractors on behalf of BSA.
Provide solutions to more complex technical design problems.
Manage performance in accordance with client and business unit KPI’s.
Promote BSA workplace, health and safety requirements to employees and contractors.
Strive to improve business processes and promote innovation throughout the business.
Other duties as required.
The Successful Candidate will have:
1-5 years’ experience in planning and designing multi technology Outside Plant Networks (fibre, copper and HFC)
Understanding of Access networking principles, including FTTP, FTTN, HFC, Active devices and Passive devices
Good understanding of aerial, underground and intra-building designs principles.
Knowledge of GIS related platforms, systems and tools such as MapInfo and AutoCAD
Strong knowledge of MS Suite
