Canadian fiber optic component manufacturer OZ Optics will expand its manufacturing by automating and optimizing a laser writing process, allowing it to manufacture better products faster at its locations in Stittsville, Turkey and China. OZ Optics will utilize the investment from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario for this expansion.
This announcement of funds is the first from the federal government’s partnership with Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters’ SMART Advanced Technologies for Global Growth program. OZ Optics officials said investment in research and development is crucial for the company to be a fiber optics leader. The SMART program gives OZ Optics and other companies the resources and ability to continue that work, ensuring that Canada plays a leading role in the global economy, both now and in the future.
Located in Canada’s capital city of Ottawa and established in 1985, OZ Optics Limited is a leading worldwide supplier of fiber optic products for existing and next-generation optical networks. In addition to designing and manufacturing components and test equipment for fiber optics markets, the company offers award-winning fiber optic sensor systems for remote monitoring of oil and gas pipelines, wells, refineries, bridges, dams and other large structures, security fences and for fire detection. OZ Optics manufactures its products in three locations, Ottawa (Canada), Izmir (Turkey), and Jiaxing (China).
