Anacom Reports Growth of Fiber Broadband in Portugal

Anacom has published the progress report of the telecom market in Portugal. The report says that the number of Portuguese households with fiber optic coverage has reached 3.96 million in the third quarter. The National Communications Authority (Anacom) is the telecommunication regulatory authority in Portugal.

Fiber optic broadband deployment has been showing continuous growth in the country. The current growth corresponds to 19.9 percent growth from the previous year before and an increase of 4 percent from the previous quarter. The Alentejo region records the highest growth in fiber optic broadband coverage, which is 14.7 percent. At the end of September 2015, there were 1.66 million households subscribing to broadband services.
