GTD has selected Infinera’s Optical Transport Solutions for its nationwide network in Chile. The enhanced network will deliver resilient, secure, and high-capacity communications services to meet the needs of the wholesale, enterprise, and residential customers of GTD.
The announcement came from Infinera through a press release that the GTD, a Chilean multi-service telecommunications provider in South America, has deployed Infinera solutions. Infinera solutions have significantly increased the capacity across its terrestrial network in Chile and its subsea networks for “Prat,” a submarine optical fiber project that will provide high-quality internet for GTD’s national territory in Chile.
GTD operates subsea and terrestrial internet networks throughout Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Spain, providing high connectivity, seven data centers, and fixed/mobile phone services to enterprise and residential customers.
By deploying Infinera’s 7300 Multi-haul Transport Platform, mTera Universal Transport Platform, and Transcend software-defined networking (SDN) solution, GTD is able to offer highly flexible solutions to its existing customers, creating a more efficient network that is SDN-ready, highly scalable, and resilient for local and regional end-user services, including data center interconnect, private cloud, and high-speed internet access.
7300 Multi-haul Transport Platform
The Infinera 7300 Series Multi-Haul Transport Platform is a software-defined networking (SDN)-ready coherent optical transport system. Supporting the latest optical technology, including multi-degree ROADM and CDC add/drop structures, it addresses the needs of regional, long-haul, and ultra-long-haul optical networking, including long, repeater-less single-span and festoon subsea networks.
mTera Universal Transport Platform
The Infinera mTera Universal Transport Platform is an extremely flexible and efficient network transport solution supporting scalable grooming and an innovative protocol-agnostic switch fabric in which each and every port on virtually every card can be software-configured between OTN and Ethernet. With feature-rich Carrier Ethernet and MPLS-TP and native SONET/SDH grooming, network operators can rest easy that the mTera can rapidly adapt to any network challenge.
Transcend is an accessible, modular, application-based network automation that helps to transcend the boundaries of current network capabilities. It is a multi-layer, multi-domain, multi-vendor software solution. The Infinera Transcend Software Suite unleashes automation, speeds the introduction of new services, and supports disaggregated network architectures, including white boxes and open line systems.
GTD’s new subsea optical fiber cable will allow the creation of a digital connectivity ring that will prepare Chile for the arrival of technological investments and position the country as a gateway to other countries in South America.
The subsea network deployment doubles the internet speed currently available to Chile, connecting 12 cities and making GTD’s network an ideal alternative in the market. GTD’s new optical network, based on Infinera’s solutions, is designed to support 99.999% reliability and improve uptime for GTD’s customers.
Infinera worked closely with its local partner Raylex to offer a best-in-class solution to fit GTD’s needs.
