Indonesian telecommunication service provider PT Telkom has inaugurated a carrier-neutral cloud datacenter in Manado, Sulawesi. The Director of IT Solution Network, Zulheifi Abidin and Director of Wholesale International Service Abdus Somad Arief officially started the operation of the datacenter last week.
NeuCentrlX is the datacenter conceptualized by PT Telkom. It is an open and neutral datacenter for all operators. NeuCentrIX in Manado is a 460 sqm data center facility with 227 square meters of IT hall. The data center is located in the Second Gateway strategic location which is a door to global connectivity in Indonesia.
NeuCentrlX in Manado is located at the main Point of Presence (PoP), which is also a national network aggregation point. Manado datacenter will act as a hub for international connectivity, especially with the United States.
Manado is the capital city of the Indonesian province of North Sulawesi and is located at the Bay of Manado, and is surrounded by a mountainous area. The city had more than700,000 inhabitants, making it the second-largest city in Sulawesi
The presence of NeuCentrIX datacenter will drive the digital economy in the whole of Indonesia. PT Telkom officials during the inauguration told the media persons that it is very strong to make Indonesia the world’s hub and internet hub.
Currently, PT Telkom operates 14 NeuCentrIX at in Indonesia abroad. In 2019, NeuCentrIX is targeted to reach 30 locations throughout Indonesia. PT Telkom has the vision to make NeuCentrIX datacenters the largest facilities for the internet ecosystem within Indonesia while they are connected to the international datacenter through the submarine fiber optic cables.
PT Telkom deploys fiber optic cables to provide high-speed, high-bandwidth connectivity to the datacenters. Fiber optic cables interconnect between the datacenters within Indonesia. Optical connectivity is a must for the datacenter to transport a large amount of data.
