Job Description:
Design, develop, build and test systems and products based on optic, photonic and laser technologies. In addition, will interact with device, hardware and software design teams to help in overall development of optical systems which includes: specifying, choosing and qualifying active and passive optical components, developing and benchmarking system performance models, producing and implementing test procedures and/or evaluating and selecting appropriate test instrumentation. Will also recommend technological modifications to the development of new photonic products and/or design changes that improve performance of existing products.

Provide innovative, flexible, incorporated solutions to fulfill customer’s dynamic business essentials.
Follow industry and department patterns and developments to guarantee company services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.
Key Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or in a relevant discipline or the equivalent, and 8 to 10 years of relevant experience.
A Master’s degree and 6 to 8 years of professional experience also qualifies.
Experience in designing, analyzing, specifying, testing, and implementing high-speed long haul optical transport systems.
Experience with performance modeling of optical transmitters, receivers, and amplifiers.
U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI/Poly security clearance at time of hire.
Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must fulfill eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
U.S. citizenship.
Preferred requirements:
Knowledge of high-speed transport, including Synchronous Optical Network/Synchronous Digital, Hierarchy (SONET/SDH), Generic Framing Procedure (GFP), Optical Transport Network (OTN), at rates up to 10 gigabits per second (Gbps) and higher.
First-hand experience with commercial multiplexing, routing, and switching hardware and routing protocols.
Knowledge of performance monitoring metrics.
Knowledge of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) transport systems (metro, unrepeated, or long-haul), and design and impairment analysis of such systems.
Experience in developing requirements and specifications, demonstrated leadership in an incorporated team environment and exceptional oral and writing skills.
