Telkom USA Prepares to Acquire GTA Teleguam

In a strategic move, Telkom USA, the US wing of Indonesian telecommunication company PT Telkom had reached an agreement to acquire the operations of Guam based telecommunication service provider GTA Teleguam. GTA Teleguam is owned by Advantage Partners, which is a private equity firm in Japan. Once the acquisition is over, GTA would be part of Telkom’s international operations.

Telkom operates in many countries under different brand names such as Telin Singapore, Telin Hong-Kong, Telkom Australia, Telkom Taiwan, Telkom USA, Telin Malaysia, Telkom Macau, Telin Timor-Leste and a branch in Myanmar.

Telkom and GTA Teleguam has partnership in South East Asia-United States submarine fiber optic cable system. Both Telkom and GTA are part of a consortium working to build capacity to meet the growing demand for bandwidth between Southeast Asia and North America. The acquisition will extend Telkom’s reach to Guam.
