Uruguay’s national telecom service provider Antel says it has connected almost 30 percent of the homes to its Fibe to the home network. Latin America has shown continuous growth in fiber optic based high speed broadband demand from residential aa well as business subscribers. Antel was successful in creating networks and delivering services to the satisfaction of its customers.
Antel has already connected 550,000 households across the country to its FTTH network. Minister of Industries, Energy and Mining Carolina Cosse announced Antel’s success to the media. The number of Fiber to the home connected homes corresponds to nearly 30 percent of the country’s homes. Antel had planned to invest around 727 million US dollars to deploy its FTTH network in three years period from 2014 to 2017.
